Exhibitions will include the show Venturing Beyond, which will explore the “intrinsically utopian” art of graffiti, showcasing specially commissioned works by 18 street artists from around the world, including Shephard Fairy, Swoon, Horfee and Nano4814. Instead of treating graffiti as a negative practice, the show will explore it as a democratic art form that challenges the political and social structures of society, just as Moore’s book did five centuries ago.(Hanna Ellis-Petersen, published on 25th Jan, 2016)

I looked at some street signs near my home. While I was walking, I recognised most of them showed for protection of car accident and safety and I imagined if there were some signages for peace and love to protect from violence. So, I decided to drew some signs to express a warm and peaceful world.
I learned about the basics of signs in my class. Signs were categorised as signifier and signified. The signifier represents the physical form, such as letters, icons, and sounds, while the signified refers to the object or concept it represents. I realised that I encountered the foundations of semiotics while working on my Unit 2 project. I found it intriguing that I could write my thoughts by watching images like an apple, light, or weather.
